These 10 Cities Are Hurting The Earth Less Than Everyone Else
Posted: July 10, 2018
Here at Harmless Harvest, we believe there is more to being “harmless”, than simply living “green”. Harmless living is a lifestyle, and bettering our planet is a responsibility, right?
That is why we compiled a new index of America’s cities that consciously put a larger emphasis on living a life that’s “harmless” not only to the environment, but also in ten other key factors such as fair trade, charitable giving, health & fitness, and more.
The Harmless Harvest team created the index by establishing a list of criteria that best aligned with our brands core values, in which we believe are vital components when it comes to measuring individual health, well-being, the environment, and ultimately the greater community that surrounds us.
Data was pulled from each selected category through reviewing recently published studies from a plethora of organizations, and scoring it based on its mentions and overall ranking in each study. Ultimately leading to the ranking of Harmless Harvest’s list of the top cities making a significant impact in all areas of harmless living.
The full list of the Ten Most Harmless Cities in the US includes:
- Boston, MA
- Seattle, WA
- San Francisco, CA
- Minneapolis, MN
- Austin, TX
- Milwaukee, WI
- Washington, DC
- Chicago, IL
- Los Angeles, CA
“We believe to truly have a positive impact on the world around us, it’s important to live a lifestyle that’s harmless in more ways than one. There’s a lot of great information out there about how different cities are doing their part in one way or another, but we wanted to paint a bigger picture, bringing together all of Harmless Harvest’s core values to define a Harmless City” says Jenna Stephenson, Director of Marketing and Innovation
Boston topped the chart as the leader in overall “harmless living”, standing out as an example for the rest of the country by consistently ranking in many of the categories, illustrating that the most Harmless City is also one of the most well-rounded.
It is exciting for our company to see how different communities across the country are not only practicing harmless living, but also making a commitment to generate a more sustainable future.
